When I bought my first Vikings Blade Chieftain safety razor, the shave was incredibly close, smooth and comfortable. The razor had five blades. These blades were an important part of that wonderful first shave. Since then (after those original blades were used up) I've been "hunting for the blade". I was trying to find a similar blade that would work just as well as the Swedish steel blades that come with the Vikings Blade Chieftain. Some blade brands have almost mimicked that first great shave. But none of them hit the mark. So I was happy to know that the Vikings Blade guys finally decided to bring these original blades to the market! I ordered immediately. On first use they are all I remember from that first shave! Made in the USA from high-quality Swedish steel, these blades are double-wrapped (a really nice touch) and offer just the right amount of sharpness and smoothness. My skin is bordering on the sensitive side and these blades really do give a surprisingly close shave. But if you have coarse hair, Vikings Blade suggests these blades may not work for you. If you want a sharp blade with a silky smooth finish, then this is the blade for you! Beginners will love this blade (and so did I when I first got back to wet shaving) because it's totally safe. And experienced wet shavers will appreciate its smooth yet sharp quality, delivering a three-pass BBS shave. I have used a blade in an old Gillette Ball End razor and in my original Chieftain safety razor. Everyone gave me a clean, smooth shave. (The chief was much more efficient). But any razor with a Viking blade installed allowed me to shave without cuts or irritation. I have used many different safety razors including dual blade, single blade and jet razors. And while using these different razors, I've tried a variety of blades. I can honestly say these Vikings Blade razor blades are at the top of my list! My new number one! You give me an exceptional shave. These blades, along with the Chieftain razor, got me back to a traditional wet shave! Vikings Blade staff say these blades last for 5-7 shaves. That means your daily shave is only worth a penny a day. While I haven't used that first blade that much (two so far) I feel like I'm on my way to a good five shaves. (I'll update this review when I get to this point). Full Disclosure: I've been a fan and daily user of Vikings Blade products for quite some time. I love their razors, brushes, shaving cream and now their blades. am i biased Yes. But only because I get great results every morning when I shave with their products. The Chieftain brought me back to traditional wet shaving. These blades keep me there! Welcome home, my son, again!
