I currently have a third party FM transmitter with the same configuration - USB powered cigarette lighter power supply, two switch controller and 3.5- mm jack plug for connection to the audio connector. After trying to figure out why this device sounded different, I finally found out when I heard The Supremes "You Keep Me Hangin On". For the first few seconds, the guitar pans heavily from right to left on the recording. With this device, all sounds are played equally in both speakers, which means that it does not transmit in stereo FM mode. This is not a source issue as I reconnected the same device to my car's aux port and it was processed for a nice sound. Stereo. I also tested the Sony Hi-Res player with the same results in mono mode only. I found a review that mentioned that it only outputs sound in mono, but one of the answers to the questions said it has stereo sound. I'll be posting an update there as well, as I've confirmed this is not a stereo broadcast device. The device itself seems pretty good, the buttons worked well, the frequency scrolling speed was good when held down to scan and the output level was good. USB power also worked well for my dashcam when I tested it.
