Out of service on arrival

I needed an outlet that went under the carpet in my living room to the sofa end table - I have a loose layout and the way my living room is set up, no outlets by the bedside tables. This cord was absolutely long enough - although the cord itself, being round and not flat, was EXTREMELY unwieldy under the rug. But once I set it up and connected the lamp, nothing. None of the branches work on the strip so unfortunately I had to send it back.
