It works those deep back muscles, you know, that you can't reach. It's a little rough on your back at times, but just follow the instructions and be sure to use a pad and/or towel when using it if it feels rough on your back. But my daughter loves the pain relief, comfort and great value. It doesn't bother her back at all, she just uses the insert without a towel, she thought it was great.
