After years of reading recipes that required grinding beef for juicy burgers, I finally broke down and bought a meat grinder. I've spent a lot of time comparing manual to electric, a special appliance with a kitchen blender attachment, etc. I have another manual pasta cooker which, while useful, is a huge waste of time. My kitchen is also small, so buying a stand mixer (which I personally don't need since I don't bake) and the attachments that came with it seemed like a waste of money. That's how I came across LEM, whose products are widely praised in the meat grinder community. I was originally going to go with the 1158 but then stumbled upon this gem which appears to be a newer, more compact model. It works perfectly for me as I'll probably grind my burgers 12 times a year (and maybe a few pounds per run at most), it fits perfectly in my already crowded pantry and is easy to take apart and clean. Before that I had no experience with meat grinders and can't imagine I would need anything else. At this price point, if you really love making burgers (make the best short rib big mac, anyone?), it really isn't a problem. It can be noisy, but no louder than any other kitchen appliance. I recommend ordering a silicone blade storage spray to prevent rusting.
