I was looking for an enclosure that would support more than 5 hard drives and allow me to access them as separate drives on an old Mac mini. I was initially very concerned about USB performance since the Mac mini I was using didn't have USB 3.0. I looked at Thunderbolt 2, but there were a few cases that kept getting more expensive. They turned out to be correct, but I was also pleasantly surprised to find that transfer speeds over a 1 gigabit LAN using rsync over SSH were much, much faster than I expected with USB 2.0, and close to the 60MB max /s as I thought could not be reached. be achieved in the real world.
