Review on πŸ“ Makita SK104Z Self-Leveling Horizontal Cross Line Laser Level by George Woods

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great little helper!

Bought this laser level to replace an HF (noname) that was having trouble with its tactile buttons after a year of occasional use. So I decided to look for a well-known brand. My old level had some features that I wanted to see in the new level. These were: - Controlling the combination of lines that should be on, so this was on my must have list as it extends battery life, and also turning off a line that is not needed for a specific job decreases it Probability of being blinded by the laser - Magnetic pendulum stabilizer that helps pump faster, otherwise you have to wait for the laser to settle down every time you approach the tripod, which can be quite annoying and common for lighthouses. in the USA. My old level came with a tripod with a 5/8 mounting screw, most competing brands that support this screw size are more expensive. The project was going to be flimsy, so I was looking for the same. Now this Makita meets and exceeds all of the above, and its bifurcated coverage actually allows for almost 360 degree coverage for both planes when placed next to a wall. Makita also has tactile buttons like most brands but you have to change them for years which increases usage but I hope Makita as a quality brand will not have any issues with this button in the future. For example, Apple can design their home button to last 1 million clicks, so it's all about quality, not something that goes unnamed. Also, the 1/4 mounting socket on the device itself is made of plastic, while the magnetic mount is made of brass. The slots are narrow and recessed for good protection, while the sturdy case completes the look and increases protection against accidental drops.

Pros
  • Fast self-levelling; Stability achieved in 3 seconds for increased performance
Cons
  • So far so good
