Review on Optimized for SEO: Samson MB1 Mini Boom Stand by Thomas Unruh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compares well to more expensive brands

My first desktop mic was the slightly more expensive Proline model at around $31. I am very happy with it. When I had to add another one I thought I'd try a brand that's almost half the price of Proline just for comparison, but it was out of stock. I saw this Samson MB1 and liked the reviews so I decided to give it a try. In fact, I like it a little more than Proline. Setting aside the Samson's $6 price advantage, it performs very well in every category. In fact, it's better in some areas. In the lowest position, it's almost 4 inches taller than the Proline, even without the height gain (the attached comparison photo has a slightly shifted perspective, but I measured the height difference at the pivot point). The movable boom arm can also be extended. to nearly double its length (with the caveat that depending on the extent, weight of your mic, and positioning of the base, you may need a counterweight to prevent tipping). The fit and finish of the components is great. Even the packaging was attractive and made me expect a high-quality product. My mobile studio equipment is now ready (ha, who am I kidding) I am very satisfied with the purchase of the Samson MB1.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • I'll add later

A little tall, but still a great stand
