I moved my invisible fence and needed flags to mark the new location. I bought these flags because I thought there was not much difference between these flags and the Invisible Fence flags. As others have pointed out, I made a mistake too. These flags are VERY small. They are made of plastic, including the stem. To plant them even in soft soil, I had to drive them into the ground with a ground rod (the kind that gets attached to wire in gardens) and then toss the PetSafe flags into the holes. When placed next to invisible fences, there's a big difference. Save yourself the hassle and time - get larger flags with metal poles that easily break through even hard-packed soil. Pass these flags unless you plan to use them indoors. I really think that's what they were designed for - indoors, not outdoors. Jim
