The value for money here seems convincing and these filters work. However, you MUST pre-rinse them with some hot water (1/4 cup) before adding the grounds. Otherwise you will get a terrible bitterness in your coffee. I'm fine with pre-rinsing as rinsing over the coffee cup also helps to preheat the cup (just needs rinsing and pouring before brewing. I've found that [slightly more expensive] Melitta filters don't have a taste problem and so don't have to To be honest the idea of these cheaper filters containing such a bitter extractable component makes me a little paranoid as to what the chemical/binder is causing!
