Update: I still think this is a very useful pan. Two tips 1. Use small silicone-tipped tongs to open and close the lid without burning yourself from the heat - see fig 2. Place foil and/or paper towel underneath to catch spills. The squirts are very fine, but even with the lid on, it was about 3 inches around the pan3. Gently press down on the lid with tongs (don't press too hard or the pan may tip forward) to speed up cooking and further reduce the size of the hole that splatters can come out of. This pan is tiny and cute, but it's also useful. and does a great job preparing a small dish on the grill. I cooked a small fillet of beef on it. I put olive oil on the steak along with salt, pepper and freshly chopped garlic. Nothing sticks! The pan gets very hot. Check out the bubbles in the attached photos. I cooked one side, flipped it, then covered it with a lid and it "tanned" nicely. If you just have a small steak/patty or an egg or something small, this is a great way to cook it without pulling out the pans and heating the stove. It was easy to clean. I just let it cool and wiped the plates down with a damp paper towel. I didn't give 5 stars because there is no on/off switch. Which I find very impractical. I also wish the hot plates could be pulled out and dishwasher safe, but as I said cleaning was easy despite the plates not being removable. the ability to stop/start cooking a steak. If you're looking for a Fordash mini grill these should pop up so you can see it in action. I find the videos very helpful so I hope these two will do. Highly recommend if it suits your lifestyle and as one reviewer noted you can just slip it in your pocket and take it to your office or hotel room it's so tiny!
