Before I got my new cage this perch was my main cockatiel perch and he filed his claws well and made them less sharp. So I decided to take another. However, now he seems to be enjoying his other perches and due to the position of the food bowl in his new cage, that perch couldn't be his 'primary feeding perch' and because of the awkward T-shape I couldn't place it next to the bowl for feeding in a good place where it is convenient for him to eat and stand on at the same time. So I had to improvise and find a way for him to use it at least a little, so I use it as his "water pole" (shown in the photos) where he has no choice but to step on the pole Drinking water. However to install it in the new cage as well I had to construct a piece of wire out of my old cage as the distance between the bars is greater than the nut can reach and this was the same problem I was having. A water holder is used to hold this rod in the photos (those brown wires are part of the old cage's frame). I'm sure if he used it more often it would work as before. If I happen to get another cage I will definitely buy another one at the same time, but as long as I use this cage I probably won't buy too much.
