Review on Hubsan Advanced Version Brushless Camera by Carrie Tunks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Maybe not for beginners. But a decent fixed camera drone for the price.

This quad has some features and controls that remind me of the XK Detect X-380, a quad that costs twice as much, costs a lot more and offers much longer flight times. Some advantages of this pro version: 1) Multiple automatic functions like auto return home, circle me and follow me. 2) self-tightening propellers. 3) Real RF 5.8g FPV with a nice bright monitor built into the controller. 4) full telemetry display 5) good FPV controls and range. 6) With the right micro SD card, the recorded images are very good, sharp and clear. A few cons: 1) Doesn't fit neatly into the controller battery, is difficult to connect, and has to use a tiny screwdriver to pry the battery out each time. the time you want to charge it. There is no built-in charging port on the controller. 2) There is no obvious way to make changes to the camera settings. 3) As this is a fixed camera, the quality of your photos and videos will depend on the wind strength. 4) Clumsy compass and GPS firmware. The quadcopter needs to be recalibrated frequently to keep it up to date with the compass and GPS position. 5) There is no obvious way to update the firmware, software or hardware. So rejoice as it comes in a box. The manual is fairly well written (except for the camera features, which had to be researched online). The instructions state that the exit button is used to stop, start videos and take pictures. You actually use the enter key for video functions. The compass and gyroscope calibration steps are very similar to the X-380. Fine-tuning these functions requires a series of stick movements and rotations of the quadcopter. You can turn off the GPS, which will make the quadcopter much more responsive to the joysticks and make it sportier. This is how an ATV with the look of a race car is arranged. It flies very fast and is very maneuverable in non-GPS mode. I have several DJI drones. And I have a fleet of smaller ATVs. The only reason I bought it was because I had my eye on it for years and just decided to buy it to satisfy my curiosity. But honestly there is one quad that I would recommend instead based on the price range and the way they stack up against each other and that would be the BayangToys X-21. But I still recommend this quadcopter for its merits and I think it's a pretty good fixed camera quadcopter for the price. Four stars.

Pros
  • There's something there
Cons
  • Minor issues
