GREAT spice jar but the lids WILL NOT fit properly and will break!

Buyer Warning, the lids that come with these jars DO NOT fit properly! The lids screw onto the jar, but there is a 1/8 inch gap between the top of the glass jar and where the lid is intended to seal. against banks. I opened a jar I had just filled with peppers and ended up with spices all over the countertop! That's how I discovered the real problem with this combination of glass and lid. Condiments when you first turn the jar upside down to use. Then, when you open the jar to refill or stick a spoon in, that 1/8-inch gap has no place for any condiments except on the countertop. Tetters also wrote a review of these cans. https://smile.amazon.com/review/R108FKAAXCPFGV/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01AS4B0SS&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=284507&store=kitchenTetters suggested that the lid was broken due to thin plastic. Tetters was wrong in this conclusion, but he points out a real problem with this combination of jars and lids! Lids break because of the 1/8 inch gap I mentioned and that's why they break. If you try to tighten the lid to create a proper seal between the lid and the top of the jar, the lid will hit the lip on the side of the jar before properly sealing against the top of the glass jar. correct seal. If it tries to expand and go over that edge, the plastic will expand BEYOND its capacity and break, and IT WILL break every time! We are asked to pay $3.25 for a very nice spice jar with a lid that doesn't fit properly and breaks every time you try to tighten it to get a proper seal! I have attached two photos. Photo 1 - Broken Tetters lid. Photo 2 - 1/8 inch spacing. In this photo I painted the inside of the lid WHITE. You can easily see the top of the glass jar. The WHITE you see is the 1/8 inch gap that exists between the top of the glass jar and the bottom of the top of the lid. These two surfaces MUST touch for a proper seal, but they cannot. If you try to match them, your lid will break EVERY time! Either the bottom of the lid needs to be trimmed off about 1/8 inch or the lip on the side of the can needs to be removed, but removing the lip may not work as it appears the threaded area is slightly narrower than the area directly under the threads. UPDATE 6/20/2016 I took a razor and cut the bottom of the cap about 1/8" to the bottom of the first thread in the cap. Cut a little and the test matches A LOT so don't go too far! PLEASE BE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU TRY THIS! The lids will now fit properly! Be very careful not to cut too much. If you go too far the lid will start to slip on the threads and will not tighten fully using the wrench is cut open a LITTLE and fitted experimentally until the lid releases the protruding edge on the can.
