This is a good product for the price. However, it can be improved and should only be selected for relevant applications. In the future I will probably use RGB strips in parallel with a separate white LED strip to maximize brightness. More brightness could also be achieved by running two (or more) rows of these RGBW sidewalls from the side of the duct. After experimenting with different RGB LED strips I got curious what RGBW would look like. I used these strips to create a color changing light (using a Fibaro RGBW Z-Wave controller) over a coffee table. I thought it would be nice to be able to choose either a colored mood or a white light. I took a 4 foot strip, put it in a plastic channel and hung it over the table. While the lamp gave off a nice ambient light, it did little more than provide decorative lighting when other lights were off. I was hoping it would illuminate my coffee table with a useful light when the lights were off for movies. The "white" output of this strip was nowhere near as bright (or warm) as my custom white light strips. This is the result of every other LED used to create white light. The "warm white" labeling of this product is imprecise, but given the cost and the fact that it was not detailed in other reviews, I was neither surprised nor disappointed. One would think that turning on all the colors of the strip would emit white light, however the blue predominates over red and green making the output even colder than white (see attached photo). To get the maximum "warm white" output I had to turn off the blue LEDs and dim the green to 25%. Of the 4 color channels you can only use half of the total power when trying to achieve a warm white. Turn off the white and theoretically 100% red mixed with 100% green should make yellow. Red is clearly not as bright as green (or blue) so you need to use 25% green and 100% red to get yellow. This RGBW strip is by no means a replacement or even an upgrade if you're just trying to achieve warm white light. Because the colored LEDs are interlaced with white, you get half the brightness compared to a dedicated RGB strip with the same LED. modules. This pattern of alternating white and colored LEDs causes the output signal to appear quite segmented. This can be mitigated with a good setup. If the LEDs are not directly visible and are reflected from a surface several centimeters away, this segmentation will not be apparent. This is most evident when the LEDs are visible. Connecting and soldering is difficult, but possible. I was able to solder them to the LEDENET extension cable using a good fine tip soldering iron and average soldering skills.
