Don't mind that the button on the side of the gauge stem isn't for ventilation, but it's still very useful. I was a bit upset when I first got it because I thought it was supposed to help with airing. The gauge holds the tire pressure even after you've detached it from the tire, so you can place it on the valve stem for a moment (even if it's in a hard-to-reach spot), and pull it out so you can see it . , and then read the tire pressure. It's pretty nifty for a lot of things. Pressing the button simply resets the sensor to zero and deflates it. Sometimes my button gets gritty because I'm using it to deflate a valve and slowly release air pressure. But it will be better if I let it deflate a little through the knob while holding the hoop.
