Very little work LONG way

Follow instructions exactly. That's all you have to do. The instructions that came with mine said to add 1 tablespoon of dehydrated pellets to 1.5 liters (6 cups) of water. I accidentally dropped a 3rd tablespoon (not paying attention) into a container instead of 2 tablespoons in two containers, and ended up with 2 cups less than my desired amount of water and had to transfer the pearls into a second container after the fact (two 1 gallon plastic sundaes ). Between baths they soaked for about 16 hours (overkill, 8 hours overnight is ideal, 3 hours minimum in my experience) and produced about 6 liters of hydrated balls if I remember my measurements correctly. They just didn't reach the size of a balloon, which is about the size of an average water balloon. The three tablespoons you get out of the bag don't really mean anything. I didn't do the math, but I think you could easily get two 5 gallon buckets of beads out of one bag. The main thing is to let them soak. Take your time, give yourself enough time for them to dive in and leave them alone. I set them up before bed, then worked an 8 hour shift, but there's plenty of soaking time at night. If you want the beads to be colored, you can mix paint or food coloring with water before adding the beads. As the pearls absorb water, they take on whatever color it wears. The uses for them are also largely limited by your imagination. Decorative centerpieces, water retention for plants (perhaps when hydrated granules are mixed with potting soil), science experiments for kids, etc. You'll get $7-8 or more back at the craft store, and it's with a coupon.
