Review on Two Pack of SAMFR 11x50 Rolls - BPA Free Vacuum Sealer Bags for Sous Vide Cooking and Food Storage by Kerry Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Thick bags with many folds that leak very slowly over a day or two.

This is the second brand I have bought that has large wrinkles. These pouches appear to be as thick as regular FoodSaver pouches (although not as thick as thick ones). But the bags all wink - both roll! Why are wrinkles formed? FoodSaver pouches never have those pesky creases. But the creases suggest that the bags are not of uniform thickness. So wrinkles aren't the end of the problem: I couldn't get 11-inch-wide bags to hold a vacuum with beans or cat food. After this is done it looks fine but then it leaks for the next day or two. I did double and triple seal and it didn't. From what I've read, it's not uncommon for such versatile packages, even highly rated ones. I think what happened is that the food (in the case of that triple-washed pinto bean) punctured the punctures in the thin part of the folds. But in my opinion, the bags should be thick enough to prevent these punctures from something equally harmless as the white ones beans or cat food. In fact, they should be tested just as well. So if you plan to use these bags, you can't use a full vacuum and expect it to work on anything but soft powders like oatmeal or cornmeal due to wrinkles that thin the sides of the bags. PS - I looked at the bags under a stereoscope. The pattern used is simple circles in a checkerboard pattern. d arrangement. This means they are non-directional and the machine can suck air regardless of the orientation of the pattern. Original Foodsaver bags have a continuous zigzag channel. And as a result, these bags were directional, which was very annoying. So if you want to pull in the direction the FoodSaver will release the bag roll no problem, but if you rotate the material 90 degrees to create a custom bag of sorts you won't be able to pull the air out at all! I think the reason for this was to encourage the customer to buy both sizes as you can only draw air in one direction. Anyway, it was bullshit and that's why I will never buy Original Foodsaver bags again.
