Conclusion: I've noticed video degradation on the VGA output but not on the HDMI output, which seems odd to me, but nonetheless. I originally bought it to use with my cool processor that only had a VGA output. I needed video for my VGA monitor and HDMI projector. The VGA for the monitor was so terrible I wanted to return it. I then used it with a document camera that only offered a VGA output and the cable to the projector was HDMI. It converts very well, so I kept it.
