Review on πŸ’ Progressive Prepworks Cherry-It Cherry Pitter - 4 Cherries by Janelle Morrissey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Second one I have

This is the second one I have of this particular cherry pit - the first lasted 8 years before I decided to replace it. Over the years, if a plate of cherries didn't set properly, it meant the plate's plastic had chipped and broken in places, and I felt it had gotten to the point where it made more sense to use it replace than babysit him to be sure. The plate didn't break. It is made out of really high quality materials, very good heavy plastic and hard strong springs. The top and bottom are split for easy use and cleaning, the spring latch (top) for easy storage, and the metal teeth are very strong and durable. Sit right every time or you'll have the problem I had with my first one and those strong metal prongs will start chipping away at the plastic top and you'll (eventually) crack your stoner and end up with tiny shards of plastic. in your fruits. Now it's really not difficult to sit properly, no, it sits very well where it should. But when you're picking up pounds and pounds of cherries, it's easy to overlook the fact that they slip when you move them, most commonly when removing and replacing cherries. I've found that if you close the pit and then gently tap the hinged corner of the work surface, the pits will move back to that corner, allowing you to pit longer without the pits from previous cherries getting in the way of pitting the next one. That could mean the plastic sheet won't fit properly when you reopen it though, so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on as you put more cherries on top to remove the pit further. I really like this gadget (and I'm not the only one for kitchen gadgets in general). It's convenient, quick and easy to use. Cleaning, well I'm a bit neat so it's a bit annoying. The bottom and the plastic cherry top are easy to clean, but the top is a little more difficult. You can close the spring seat (like when storing) and clean the prongs and underside of the spring seat well, but the top of the spring seat, where the juice and sometimes small bits of cherry zest get in, is a lot more difficult. The hole is quite small and you can only get in with small straw brushes to do a real *wash*, although it washes out easily in hot, soapy water. If that doesn't bother you, then everything is fine. But if you want to scrub all surfaces, that's really not possible with this version.
