The pins can be shortened but are a bit weak at the joint, but when carefully assembled they don't bend. The center ball is real glass and mine broke but the customer service was excellent and they sent me a replacement. I also have an issue with another part that wasn't drilled properly, but they replace that part as well. I hope when I receive them the second counter will work properly. Nice spinner made of metal. It's not cheaply made either.
