Great product in itself, even better when modified!

It feels solid and is of excellent quality for the price. I had no problem fixing it on my Baofeng F8HP as other reviewers said. In any case, a major downside that I have found with most hams is the ability to charge the battery. I bought an emergency preparedness ham radio and quickly found that all I had was an AC adapter to charge the original battery. If the power went out for a long time and my car ran out of gas, I couldn't use my radio. I have modified most of my devices to work with 18650 Li-ion batteries. I have developed a solar charger that can charge 18650 cells, so I can solar charge most of my devices when other methods are not available are. So of course I made an adapter for my radio so it can work with 18650. The original battery voltage is 7.4V and that's what 2 18650 batteries provide, so all I had to do was solder the power connectors to the car adapter, radio adapter, and my new 18650 battery. So I can still connect it to my car or mine if needed 18650 battery to power my radio. See photos to make sure it works! When I get survival gear I need it to work off the beaten track. My solution is solar charging lithium ion batteries and modifying devices to work with them.
