I wanted a magnifying mirror with a light that didn't need to be plugged in. At the moment the options are limited to these parameters. This mirror does what I need. Yes, I wish the light was a little brighter, but there's enough extra light to highlight the magnified areas for tweezing or makeup application. I also want it to have more magnification. I know you can buy the 10x version but the price of the mirror was too high. This one would be better at 8x, but it works well. What I like best is that I don't have to plug it in. I like my countertops to be clean so I didn't want to leave the mirror on all the time. I take it out of the closet and put it where I want, I just flip the switch and it turns on. No more plugging in, no unplugging, no more searching for an outlet where to use it, and no more winding and unwinding the cord every time I unplug it. This more than makes up for the lower magnification and lighting values. It works great for what I need it for.
