Good quality product, I rate this purchase excellent.

In general, BAOFENG UV-5R is not bad for the money. As the first radio station, and for people who are not demanding on a stable constant connection, to a connection of medium quality, it’s quite good. The only big minuses are that the noise reduction from the factory , you need to configure it via a computer + firmware cable yourself. And the modulation sounds soft on the air, you have to speak louder and closer! Or make your own! Maybe for some this is not a con. And for me personally, the cons are because, for normal communication, this is important.

Pros

in terms of price + quality is good. The presence of 2 frequency bands 136-174MHz 400-520MHz. Range is quite good. In the city about 1.5KM 2-3KM between two radio stations. Depends on the urban development of the terrain.

Cons

In the place where the standard antenna is connected, a small gap is visible. From the factory, the noise reduction is set to , it often “puffs up somewhere” and there are various interferences. If the noise reduction worked fine, it would be great! Despite the fact that this is a direct conversion RDA 1846 chip. Not "superheterodyne". Modulation, like many "baofengs", quietly sounds on the air. Have to speak louder and closer! Or customize it yourself! This is a big minus.
