This offers good protection but it is THICC. Turns your phone into a fucking BRICK in your hands. The retractable ring is useful (actually practically necessary since it's so heavy). On the other hand I gave it up and was very happy to have the level of protection that this case offered (phew!). This is a compromise. : A fancy phone that can be damaged if dropped versus a BIG thing in your hands that can withstand a tumble onto concrete while getting out of the car? The size of the Note 9 practically guarantees that it will eventually fall. So I'll keep it, even if it's a tank with rubber bumpers.
