Bought to try and use as an extra tool for spoon carving. So far this works for me. I use it after I start carving the bowl. I shape the bowl into small enough indents, then use a millstone to cut enough material so I can get large indents, and hook in the knife to complete the depth of the bowl. I hammered it into my drill press. Not sure what RPM is, but it runs slower because I'm using bigger Forstner bits in the press. I didn't expect this to do all the work, but now I don't always have to use chisels exclusively when making rough bowls. Last Saturday I was able to draw bowls on 12 spoons in about 3 hours. Usually it takes much longer. And I put a lot less strain on my hands when using boron. I'm glad the ridge is as big as it is. This works well with the size of spoons I make.
