A lot of people complain about overheating. Stop turning on the light all the time! Almost all lamps are electrically heated. In short, if you're looking for lights that last all day/night, ok look elsewhere. I have them in my living room and we usually turn them on for about 2-3 hours a day. often less. Ideal for easily lighting a room for a reasonable amount of time! I've never worried about them being a fire hazard or burning my wall. I left it on once when I was at work from 7am to 5pm. came home and they were fine. It's wasteful, but they've stood the test of time with that major complaint that people have, so make your own decision about the product. They are great - I hung them on either side of the TV. Bright. Ease of installation. I've opted for an external switch and I still have to hide the cable the way I want it, but there's nothing I don't like. Good product.
