I've lifted weights most of my life, but I fell out of a van. I've recently started supporting along with taking protein supplements. I came across the Clean Label Project one day while researching other products. I was amazed to find that a protein powder I've been taking for years (famous, well-known brand) has been rated very poorly for BPA (a known endocrine disruptor). Basically, it's a chemical that's commonly found in many plastics and has been linked to cancer and developmental disabilities. I was shocked. It wasn't even the worst of all proteins. Some contained neurotoxic mercury, lead, or not even the advertised amount of protein. Perhaps I shouldn't have been too surprised - the entire dietary supplement industry is not regulated by the FDA. So I went to the clean label project's top protein list and found this: Puori PW1 Vanilla Whey Powder. It was expensive. Twice as much as I paid for my previous £2 jug but you can't put a price on what you put in your body. The quality is excellent. It's great on its own, even better if you don't mind blending the smoothie with fruit (like bananas) in a blender. It's vanilla, which means it's also neutral enough to pair with your favorite recipes for extra protein blitzes. It also mixes well in a regular shaker. It's not chalky or lumpy like some others and yes I've tried a lot in 15 years. I can count over 20 different brands. OK. I buy it because it has been independently tested to have what it claims to have and does NOT cause me lead poisoning (weird we should even say that, thanks Congress/FDA). I buy it because it only has 5 ingredients. My only criticism, aside from the price, is the lack of flavors. I'd love to see a banana cream version so I don't have to add sugar from real bananas to my protein shakes. Keep it up Puori!
