Not for do-it-yourselfers

Very cheap item. I have used gold clasps to prototype necklaces and test the clasp's durability. The color changes slightly and having worn my necklace a total of 6 times the color has come off of it by rubbing against my skin. There is a clear color separation from silver to gold. I do not recommend buying this product. Definitely look for a stainless steel product for a gold plated product.
