Great for reducing plastic, but not very durable.

I really wanted to love them but they just ain't bad. With a few improvements I think they could be great. I've strayed away from the standard petroleum based green and yellow sponges for many years and have tried so many things in that time with varying degrees of success. After my local grocer stopped carrying twist sponges, I gave them a try. The size is slightly smaller than regular sponges, which is a double-edged sword: on the one hand, it's more maneuverable and can penetrate smaller spaces faster. easy, but larger items require a few more passes to cover. I haven't used two different scrubbing materials and only used the lighter one, but of the two sponges I've gone through, the scrub side has both peeled off and separated from the sponge side in a very short time (we're talking days). We started this in early January and after 5 weeks we have our second sponge. Our first one started tearing down the middle pretty quickly and we used it as best we could, although it popped open like Pac Man until it finally split in two completely, and even then we used the smaller piece for almost weeks. , so you can get an idea of how quickly ours wear out. We wipe anything sharp very carefully so we don't cut the sponge and we actually use the cleaning side sparingly as we use steel wool for heavier work so we definitely don't mangle these guys and they're fast anyway broken . I suspect this is an issue with all natural sponges, but Twist did a good job of mitigating this by actually stitching the scrubber onto the sponge, which sure helped it last longer and contributed to it as well has that the sponge itself sticks together. longer. If it were more durable this product would be a winner and I would definitely buy it again but from the looks of it I'm a bit skeptical and will definitely check out others to see if I can find something more durable.

Pros
  • ☀️Environmental friendliness. The materials we use to make our sustainable sponges are sustainably sourced and renewable. Our sisal and coconut sponges are made from plant fibers such as wood pulp (cellulose), cotton fibers, sisal and coconut. When processing kitchen sponges, we release fewer toxins than with the traditional production of cellulose sponges. When your natural sponge has had its day, it is also 100% biodegradable and can be composted.
Cons
  • Big and bulky
