Overview. I bought these plates for a program where we serve food to an elementary school once a week. Spacious plates allow kids to safely carry heavy meals like pasta and meatballs. I chose these because our school has reliable organic food and a composter, so I specifically looked for a plate that was biodegradable/compostable. / recyclable. (I later found out that the amount of slabs we produce exceeds the capacity of our composter, but it's good that we have something biodegradable/recyclable.) These plates are great for food that is to be served immediately, but I have found that the plates will loosen and become brittle if they contain food for several hours (e.g. if you are transporting food home in one of these plates and then tried to eat it for a few hours).
