Review on 👠 Whitmor Floor Shoe Rack - White, 4 Tier, Holds 20 Pairs by John Iverson

I have a rather embarrassing amount of good heeled shoes, to the point where I've started to overcrowd what appears to be a spacious shoe rack in my closet. I bought this product as a temporary keeper to keep my rather expensive shoes from ending up in a heap on the floor until I sorted out the closet situation. That being said, the stand feels very solid and could definitely serve as a permanent solution for those who wanted it. Installation is extremely easy. There are two plastic side panels with small feet on the bottom and holes on the sides for inserting rods. And then 8 individual poles that come in 2 sets of 4 held together with plastic plugs at both ends. So when they arrived they actually looked like double bar shelves which confused me for a second before referring to the 3 step assembly instructions lol. It took me 5 minutes total, most of which was spent ripping off those damn end caps so I could get the bars out. Assembly is a very simple task performed by one person. Put the sticks in the holes on both sides, put everything together, done. The stand itself is very solid, and while it's made up of plastic sides and metal poles, it really doesn't feel intimidatingly cheap when assembled. If anything, its cheapness makes it a little more discreet. As I said, I bought it solely to wear women's stilettos, specifically size 8-8.5, and it does the job adequately. Although there are certainly a few issues. I will say that the sloped base probably holds the heels better. These flat rows cause the cleats to lean far back until they catch at the top of the heel. What's a big problem with this rack is that the heels dangle on the bottom row and nest at the bottom of the shoe. I've placed this image on top of the product photos to better illustrate the point. Now it's not the end of the world. Basically it just means I have to be careful when I take my shoes off. I usually hold onto the top of the shoe while exiting the show from the bottom, or vice versa. If I don't do this, the heel will inevitably catch at the top of the heel and everything will fall off. This might not be an issue with shorter heels (most mine are 3-4 inches), but I'm sure there's still some nesting. The rows are also very close together, so even with no cleats, there's a bit of rocking to do in the top row as the heels have to work over the bars, so to speak. Of course, more space between rows would mean a taller shoe rack, and I prefer a compact size. Finally, the bottom row is less than an inch from the floor, which again helps keep the rack compact, but it also means that the heels in the bottom row just go over the bar and sit on the floor. It's not a problem for me at all, but I wanted to lay out any unexpected quirks. So far happy with this purchase. This is a GREAT price for something that takes up little space (all things considered) and fits in a whole lot of shoes. I would have no hesitation in recommending this product to anyone looking for permanent home storage or temporary heel storage. But if you're looking for a permanent place to store your heels first, I'd look for something with fewer heel issues. No, that is not so. The two side parts are fixed, fixed parts. They cannot be made shorter or taller to fit more or fewer rows. There are 4 rows, period.) UPDATE: This shoe rack never worked perfectly for my specific needs, but thought I'd update this review as it's still used for a variety of sneakers. As mentioned above, this stand is perfect for flat or low heels. And probably at least a women's size 8. Also, it's been perfectly preserved for the 5 years I've had it. Don't bend down, don't bend down. I really wonder if some of the people who encountered this problem grabbed it tight enough. I literally laid it on its side and pushed as hard as I could to make sure the rods went all the way in. Easy enough. Also, I noticed that some reviewers thought the product arrived broken and fused. This is the end cap for transport! You take it off and throw it away.
