I first slice the egg open with a traditional egg slicer, then place the whole sliced egg, slices horizontal, on a cutting board and press the slicer against the sliced egg until the egg is almost, but not quite, pushed through the egg. . Then I take the cutter with the cut egg, turn it over the bowl and press the egg all the way through with my thumb. Easy to clean, convenient to store. I'm not sure how long this will last, but it has already lasted several months, much longer than the first device I tried, and a lot easier to clean. And they give you two, so even if I eventually have to replace them, it's still going to be a definite winner for me.
