I ordered two of them in one order. One was completely defective, with an obvious corner stain right where the screw hole was (whose idea was that?). I didn't see it right away so the screw came loose when I put it in and then I saw it. View in different places (pictured). Other than that, none of them were in the corner where the screw holes were, so they weren't too bad. But it definitely still looks like people are fixing broken devices and reselling them at full price, which is completely unethical. To be honest, if they were discounted and marked as refurbished or so, it might be a different story; but you expect to get a new item that hasn't been tampered with. I also noticed the many corners and edges on the device. While assembling a working block, two fragments got stuck in my hand. Overall, both blocks sucked; Along with the patches there was poor bonding work at the joints (or where the boards tore as shown in the photo) and both blocks had rough edges causing splinters. But at least I had one to collect. However, this top shelf showed mold/damage (as pictured), the bottom panel was noticeably warped (as pictured) and the shelf was unbalanced. (I installed it on several different tables to make sure the imbalance didn't come from my countertop.) I put a felt pad on one of the back legs to balance it. During assembly, the screws seemed too big for the bamboo boards. ; The reinforcement brackets are thick, but real boards are thinner, so when assembling them I was a bit worried that they would break. Also, screws tend to want to go wrong at first and CAN go wrong if you're not careful. So I started pre-drilling the pre-drilled holes before actually putting them together so I had maximum control over how straight they went in. But of course that caused a lot of extra work. seemed easy enough to understand. Both units also came with felt feet, but the glue on both was so dry that they ripped off while still in the bag and were completely unusable. I couldn't help but compare this rack to a similar bamboo sauce. the frame I ordered earlier this month turned out to be really great; he had absolutely NONE of the problems I list here with this rack. So I can say with confidence that this is all a serious quality control issue. *UPDATE: I returned a defective item and received a replacement. Well it was MUCH better. There were still slight rough edges that resulted in edge chipping and cosmetic issues (someone ruined the finish on the boards and there was still bad looking wood glue at the joints), but there were no stains or mold, the bottom board was straight and flush with the edge of the side panels, and it was perfectly balanced even on the stand. I also noticed that the screws that came with the replacement unit were slightly shorter and felt a little thinner than the screws that came with the first two units. This seemed to make a noticeable difference during construction; They still want to go crooked in the pre-drilled holes somehow, but they just didn't feel as resilient or that they would split the boards. This device also didn't come with the useless dry felt pads that the first two devices had. I was also surprised that the replacement came with illustrated instructions and the unit was actually bubble wrapped in the box. The first two I ordered had neither; They only had very thin sheet padding but no bubble wrap on the outside. So suddenly there seems to be a big leap in quality and now I realize that the first two items I ordered were just complete rubbish. Overall I am happy with the replacement BUT if I had known that the replacement would actually be better and better quality I would have returned both shelves complete on the first order. I just felt stuck with a semi-functional rack and had very little expectation of a replacement. I can still speak to Revain customer service about this, especially since I was stuck with a unit that had mold damage. Just for comparison. Last year I bought a variety of bamboo items ranging from the aforementioned sauce coasters, plant shelves, shelf organizers, laptop trays, and monitor stands - but most (if not all, I think) of these items were actually pretty decent. . Easy to assemble, the screws didn't feel too big, they were sturdy, didn't look wobbly and definitely didn't give me any splinters during assembly. This shelf (of the first two units) is by far the worst I've bought of any bamboo item in the last year; However, the replacement unit is fine and I would give it four stars. Overall I would give this a higher rating if both units I originally received were of the same quality as the replacement unit, but I have to deduct a few stars because the quality doesn't match and that I am at the poor quality of the unit stuck. thought it was exactly that (I already threw away the box and packing material).
