The heating pad itself does the job I think because it melts the wax but do yourself a favor and don't even fiddle with the wax beads provided. I am a professional esthetician and bought this as a homemade wax pot to replace my Gigi honey pot and the pearls are TERRIBLE. The wax melts to the right consistency and everything except it dries out TERRIBLE. It doesn't come out in a single streak, instead the wax breaks into tiny shards, almost like glass. I've tried the technique of applying thicker and thinner layers, but each time I get the same or almost the same results. Worst wax. I first used it on my eyebrows and it had almost no hair but today I tried it on my legs and it was just a mess. Very disappointed.
