All things considered, what can you expect from an $18 pump? LOL The pump started peeling off after about a month. The first time it stopped after checking my wiring and power supply, I tapped the underside of the brush case and it came back to life. Then the next day only worked once and couldn't bring it back to life. I disassembled the device and found that the armature windings were coated with some type of polymer (not the type of coating you would normally see on copper wire) and that material had failed. and covered the peripheral surface of the armature, stressing it so much that it created significant armature resistance so it started drawing more current making things hotter and quickly failed when the brushes overheated. - Metal plating on the holders causing them to bind and lose electrical connection with the switch. Materials science, fools! Do not use any materials that are not suitable for this application!
