The dress ordered for my teenage daughter arrived and looked cute. However, the next day I went into her room and found that the whole room was filled with a horrible smell of mold. Maybe it smelled like something that was stored in a damp garage? It was overwhelming. I searched and searched for the source of this new smell, asking my little one if she had brought anything from the street or if something got wet. I finally found this dress. The dress had a musty smell which we didn't notice at first, but when it was locked in a room for the day it sucked in the air. It was REALLY bad. As this was a Halloween costume I decided to try a hand wash cycle to see if I could get rid of the smell - it was too late to contact the seller to request a new one by the time this problem became apparent. . The wash failed and the dress lost its shape and the colors faded. The label said hand wash only, so that was my downside. Unfortunately the dress had an issue with the smell, especially for the price because overall it was pretty cute. :( UPDATE: After two cycles of gentle washing and drying on linen, I ironed the dress and I managed to get it to look decent. However, it STILL smells bad! This fabric holds the mildew smell very strong - it works right now in the trash when Halloween is over.
