This cable thing does what it's supposed to do - lets your Wii handle that progressive scan crap. Using magical science, Nintendo has created this cable of very durable quality with beautiful, smooth, clean connectors that connect to your TV simply and exquisitely. It's quite expensive, but if you want 480i to be 480p, what else are you going to do? Hot wire fuck thing yourself? You don't know how to make such a cable, stop thinking about it. However, the odd thing is that since the Wii is 480, some games look better in 480i than in progressive mode. Progressive will make your lines sharper, so when playing certain games you'll end up with the worst aliasing (ie those horribly jagged, nightmarish-looking little square lines) you've ever experienced. Gamecube games look awfully awful at 480p on my 32" LCD TV (although they actually look pretty bad in either mode). However, if you want the best detail and you're sitting a little far from the TV, you probably won't notice, and if you do (or don't care) I'd tell you please sir or ma'am this one Buy items, not a non-Nintendo cable as they tend to burn out after a while.
