Review on πŸ“± Smart Digital Body Weight Scale with App for Weight Tracking, BMI & Body Composition Analysis, Max 400lb1 (White) by Deanna Martinez

Great smart scale for the price!

1 WEEK UPDATE: After using this scale for a week, I like it a lot better than I initially thought. The readings were very consistent from day to day; I've never read a "What are you kidding me?!" from any measurements. As I said below, I cannot confirm that this scale is medically 100% accurate to the ounce, but at this price point that would be an unreasonable expectation. The fact that it's providing stable readings over the course of a week gives me a lot of confidence that it's at least internally consistent, meaning you can track changes with confidence. (I used to have an electronic scale that would fluctuate wildly by 20-40 pounds from day to day, which I believe is against the laws of nature.) Another plus: I weighed several days in a row without opening the app on my iPad. (Most people will probably install the app on their phone, but my phone is pretty stuffed, so I use an iPad.) I'm happy to report that the scale actually stored a couple of days' worth of data and the App updated when it was reconnected to the iPad. The only downside I can find with this scale (other than the lack of a room temperature reading in Fahrenheit) is that the glass is *really cold* on a cold winter morning. It will definitely wake you up! I enthusiastically recommend this scale if you are looking for a great value smart scale. In fact, the performance is so impressive that I've forgiven them for missing the Fahrenheit option for room temperature readings, and I'm upgrading my rating from 4 stars to 5. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” HEADLINE: Good smart scale for the price; Nice; seems accurate enough. At this price point ($25.99 when I ordered it) I think it's a good scale. The weight measurement appears to be fairly accurate, and the additional data points available on the app are interesting and might inspire you to make healthy lifestyle changes. but installation was easy. Just (1) insert the batteries (only 2 AAA batteries are required, but for some reason the scale comes with 4 "PonysaniG” (did they spell Panasonic?!) AAA) and (2) charge the app your phone or tablet. (See image for correct OKOK application). When you open the app, you will learn how to pair your device with the scale via Bluetooth. I found the pairing process quick and easy. Note. You can use this scale without an app, but you only see your weight. If you want to see other data (or want to track your data over time), you'll need to set up an account through the OKOK app. I signed up with one of my "junk" email addresses because I think I get a lot of spam from these people and their friends. Not wanting to sound paranoid, I also entered slightly inaccurate personal information (e.g. date of birth) as it is anyone's guess as to who might end up having access to that information. Maybe I'm being too careful, but... No, I'm not too careful; That's just common sense these days. Once the scale is connected to your device, simply stand on the scale (barefoot) for a few seconds and your weight will be displayed as large, easy-to-read LED numbers. I have an expensive medical scale and this smart scale reads within 2 pounds. other scales so I think it's accurate enough for home use. Pros: - Small and beautiful - Weight readings seem pretty accurate - The app shows useful/interesting extra information (BMI, Fat, Water, Bone Mass etc.) and when you click on each item in the app it expands to include it display a standard explanation of what an element measures (see image). You won't pass the medical exam with these explanations, but for the layman I found them quite informative. Aside from the weight reading, I have no way of knowing if any other information is correct, but from what I've read about this type of scale I would definitely view any other readings with a lot of skepticism and certainly wouldn't rely on them.for that medical decision making. The app logs every measurement so you can track changes over time. And while I wouldn't rely on the full accuracy of all the different readings, I think it will be interesting to track each point over time, and it can actually be helpful when you see big changes in a given reading . And who knows, maybe some of the readings will just inspire me to exercise more, drink more water, and eat less fried foods. If your device's Bluetooth is off, the scale will likely store your information in its memory and sync when Bluetooth is on. back (but I can't find any information on whether the memory stores one or more readings in memory). The scale claims it can track multiple users, which would be handy for families. switched from pounds to kg to stones at the touch of a button on the back of the scale (for our friends in the UK). (This can also be changed in the app.) - The app can be synced with the Apple Health, Google Fit and Fit Bit apps. CONS: - Be careful when installing the application - you will be asked to grant it many different permissions that are not required for the application to work. I answered them all resolutely "no”. The app is always trying to sell you something. Every time you open it, an ad will appear. It's easy to skip ads, but it's very annoying. (This confirmed my initial decision not to give the app permissions to interact with other apps or send me messages.) - The dial shows the temperature in the room, which I found very handy. Unfortunately, the temperature is shown in Celsius and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it to Fahrenheit, so I keep having to ask Alexa to convert it for me. This isn't a problem for advanced Celsius users, but for those of us who only understand Fahrenheit, the temperature function is useless. CONCLUSION: I think this is a good product for a cheap entry into the world of "intelligent scales". at a fair price. 4 stars.
