It has been a while since I purchased this item but thought it was time I wrote a review. Would definitely not recommend. The lid just sits on instead of snapping open, and there are no handles to grab, so you'll have to pry it up with oven mitts. Dangerous combination. I have one of these microwaves over the stove (so slightly higher) and I went to get it out after cooking some veggies. Of course, as I mentioned, you should pick it up with oven mitts or a thick towel to protect your hands, which is what I did. But by not locking the lid, it slipped off, I lost my footing, and almost squirted boiling water on my stomach. I had a bad burn on my stomach and left thigh that lasted a few weeks and I was sure it would leave a scar but luckily it has since gone and I don't think you can tell more. But the fact of the matter is that this item is a real security risk. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for a steamer that doesn't burn you badly. If for some reason you don't care, just know that after lying on the kitchen floor screaming in pain for several minutes until I could get up and treat the burns, I had to remove 3 cups of peas and corn. that has spread to every corner of my kitchen. Far from ideal in every way.
