These are a soft, pliable silicone that are easy to clean. They are dishwasher safe, which is something I look for. I recently renovated the kitchen and had a new glass stovetop/range put in as well as new quartz countertops. These are really solid surfaces and I was looking for a heat-resistant non-slip buffer for setting down glass bakeware straight out of the oven. These are perfect for keeping something from sliding around, but they are very slim (3/16th of an inch tall) and I'm not confident in their ability to keep the heat at bay from my wood dining table. I may end up using them on top of my pre-existing iron trivets which have more height but more abrasive feet, or doubling them up to give me more confidence in them blocking heat transmission.
