I understand why some people are having trouble with this N600 AE2500 adapter. First, installation is shockingly easy. Insert the CD, follow the instructions and you're done. I didn't have to go into the settings to prevent the computer from hibernating the adapter. What I particularly noticed is that it almost gets hot. I take the temp and it reads about 100-105F. I don't know if this is normal for the wireless adapter, it seems to get very, very warm when selecting the 5GHz band. If it works like this, it's no wonder so many people have trouble with it, because at such high temperatures it's prone to premature failure. My solution was to turn on the fan, it seems to work to bring the temp down to around 92-95F but only time will tell if I fall prey to the same issues some people are having. The rest of the device works great, I get 300Mbps. If you succeed, keep that in mind.
