Review on Leatt GPX 3 by Jack Herrera

It can pinch your windpipe

I really wanted to like this product. I think wearing a neck brace on a motorcycle is a must. But I can't believe the design oversight Leatt made with this product. There's nothing to stop the brace from moving backwards and shattering your Adam's apple in a frontal impact. It's like wearing a guillotine around your neck. I have a Leatt chest protector and even that doesn't stop the neck brace from moving back on impact. Just two elastic straps that stretch enough to allow the brace to move back and forth fairly freely. Do not believe me? Order, put on, now clap your hand directly under the chin of the helmet - the orthosis goes directly into the neck/Adam's apple/larynx. Helmet fall statistics show that the chin of a helmet is hit in 12% of accidents. What if the punch lands just below the chin? Do yourself a favor and put on a bandage that's securely fastened to the front of your bib or jacket. For example, Revit Segur - it attaches to the front of the jacket with inelastic nylon straps and does not slide back.

Pros
  • The rear rib cage is designed to break off before excessive back pressure is applied
Cons
