Different sizes make it easy to cook small portions and two large pots make it easy to cook large portions. While cooking without butter or oil isn't a problem, the surfaces are smooth and it's not easy to burn the contents as far as I can tell - it's not a good idea to test this feature. The lids don't really fit snugly on the pots, but they do on the inside. Not to mention that I have many pot and pan lids that are no longer in good condition. I will look for other sizes. They nest beautifully. and they are LIGHT. The price is right. I highly recommend them.
