My 3.5 year old son loves them! The pattern is actually a little less vibrant, but that doesn't stop my kid from loving them. The panels come off easily - I am considering putting them on before we go in the water but my LO is very fond of using them on the beach and loves wearing them around the home and garden without the panels. The outsole is still rubberized so it still offers protection on terrain that I know isn't dangerous. I measured my LO foot and chose the size based on that and it worked fine.
