For many, many years I have been looking for - I know it sounds silly - a camera to record my observations with my dissecting microscope. This recently took the form of looking for a 30mm camera adapter for my old Swift dissecting microscope to take pictures of the very old stuff I'm researching at the moment. In the past getting an adapter and camera was always an expensive proposition that I couldn't justify with personal curiosity and records. I even contacted SWIFT a few years ago and was told they don't have a 30 year old microscope like mine. with a microscope, I knew I had to try. It works very well. It's not super tight, but it's not sloppy either. My only thought was to put some blue painters tape around the joint to prevent any possible dust ingress, however remote the likelihood might be. The locking screw on my microscope that holds the eyepiece in place works great with the Swift adapter and prevents it from falling out or becoming loose. The color matches my microscope so it looks like the original equipment. It's durable and smooth so I wasn't concerned about scuffing the inside of the eyepiece socket. Along with the adapter, I also bought a camera mount that allows you to take photos with your smartphone. It fits seamlessly into the Swift adapter. In general, I'm very happy with the results and the equipment. So far my experiments have been productive and I think this device will be all I need for my simple purposes.
