A useful tool when you realize its limitations

Updated 2021-02-15: Used intermittently throughout the year, about twice a month. The motor burned out last night while cooking soft boiled potatoes for about 30 seconds. I will definitely replace it, but not with this model. It was great as long as it worked for easy whipping and shuffling. The original review: To be honest, I bought this because I wanted something quick and easy for beating eggs and mashed soup that didn't have many attachments, was inexpensive, and didn't take up a lot of space. This seemed to fit the bill. So far I've used it for its intended purpose. While the hull seems solid enough, it feels heavier than I thought and not as easy to maneuver as I was hoping. The wires on the whisk attachment are quite flimsy as others have noted and I wouldn't attempt to use it for anything other than soft ingredients. Worked well for beating the egg whites and mashed potatoes, but I partially mashed the potatoes with a potato masher first. The blender attachment was a little bulkier to blend my finished soup, but it did the job and was easier to use and clean than my stand mixer. The owner's manual warns you not to run the engine for more than a minute or it may overheat and damage the engine, and I agree it gets quite hot. It's also not meant to be used for hard or dry foods like ice cream, otherwise you could damage the blades. Update: Overheating too fast. I tried separately beating five egg whites and then five yolks for one recipe. It took three minutes to whip the egg whites, then it was so hot it started smelling. I ended up having to use my hand mixer to finish the work. It took me over ten minutes to cool down enough to handle it safely. I find this to be essentially useless for making recipes that require long beating. I give it 3 stars because it's a useful tool once you realize its limitations.
