Review on KRUPS 10-Cup Black Grind and Brew Coffee Maker with Built-in Burr Grinder and Auto-Start by Felicia Sanchez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

. would have been a 5 star rating if the machine had and had a better coffee strength control.

. A 5 star rating if the machine had better coffee strength control and a larger cup. I can be the enforced "queen" of the grinders and brewers. It took me quite a long time to find everything I wanted: ease of use, strength control, little or no maintenance, easy cleaning, large pot and hotplate. I've tried Cuisinart (several brands - about 3 different ones), Kenmore, Breville, Capresso and Gourmia. In my search for a decent grinder and brewer, I found that many were fairly imperfect, breaking or jamming easily, difficult to clean and often requiring extensive cleaning, or cheaply made with inferior plastic parts. When my last car (a high-end Breville) started breaking down after only 9 months of ownership, I was furious. I'm tired of looking for something that doesn't seem to exist and paying big bucks for poorly designed machines. However, I didn't want to give up the grind and brew method because I believe it makes the best coffee. That's how I came across this Krups. I decided to take a chance as I haven't tried Krups yet. When I received the car, I quickly realized that it was essentially a Capresso. However, it is not yet as finicky as the Capresso and is much easier to clean and maintain. The coffee is great, the machine is easy to use. It keeps the pan hot for hours - an important feature for me because higher level pans don't satisfy me. Also, they water lousy. It's quite noisy when grinding and a bit slow when brewing coffee, but those are minor flaws I can easily put up with. The biggest gripe I have against the machine is how many beans it uses and how poorly it regulates the coffee strength. With every setting and degree of grinding, the coffee is always the same strength. I like it so I can handle it, but I'd rather it work the way it's supposed to so I can control the flavor. I've had it for 1 week at the time of writing this so we'll see. I'm glad I bought it so far. I hope it will last a long time and maybe there will be an improved version when it dies. So far this is the best I've found.

Pros
  • 10-CUP MARKER WITH BUILT-IN MILK: Make great coffee at home - the built-in cone grinder grinds the beans just before brewing for an enticingly rich aroma and full-bodied flavor (no separate grinder required)
Cons
  • Difficult to remember, but it does was
