Good product! Seems intimidating but it's an easy fix

I had to replace all 3 actuators in my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 because I was tired of the HVAC system making its own decisions. To my knowledge some Chevys from that era have more than 3 drives and trying to figure out how many you have is pretty easy given the number of controls you have. I could be wrong but that was explained to me but I digress. This is a quality replacement part and worth every penny. This is the process that worked for me. This was the second drive and the easiest to replace, but recommendations are almost non-existent. YouTube videos were vague and half the people never disconnected the battery which is a big deal. Plugging in the drive with the battery attached runs the risk of burning the inside of the drive, and running the drive before it's installed only makes your job twice as difficult. Leave the mode set to Face. The moving parts of the new drive must be color coded to confirm that the new drive is perfectly aligned and ready for installation. If you notice these marks on your drive and they don't match, it's best to return it for a replacement, this has happened to me, but my block also burned out. I used a Lisle pad remover pulling out those plastic fasteners and a 5.5mm head for the job. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and take a flashlight. Do not lose the 2 mounting screws from the old drive as this replacement drive does not come with mounting hardware and you will need to reuse it. I used a pad remover to slightly pry the white gear out of the old rail and put it back onto the new large black gear rail. Be careful as you don't want to damage this equipment. There are 3 rails, the shortest but widest (bottom) rail is where the top drive bracket fits to prevent the gear from twisting and breaking, the wire harness is also attached to this bracket. The middle lane is the longest, with a short transition at one end, and is jagged, and is the lane that the white gear runs through. The outermost lane that is partially covered is for a small white bar. When you remove the old drive and are ready to install the new drive. You will need a tool to move the white gear from the drive to the steering wheel and then slide it over the large black gear on the center rail. Again, I used the Lisle pad removal tool for this part, but any similar tool will do. When installing a new drive, the wiring harness connection must face the firewall. After the new drive is installed and reconnected, reconnect the battery and then start the drive in each mode, move forward, stop in each mode until the drive completes the cycle and goes into defrost mode, and then do it backwards until your mode is selected. back in the face. During this process you can hear a loud bang, this is the self-alignment of the gearbox. Now you should be ready to go. Again, this process worked for my application, but as far as I know, many Chevy trucks and SUVs from that era are very similar. Much luck!
