The launch pad was the same height as the outside dog door I installed - 8.5 inches tall. In other words, the lowest point of the inside dog door was still 8.5 inches from the patio floor on the outside. This item worked great and I didn't have to build the ramp from scratch as I don't know how to work with wood. I had to modify it by cutting off the back edge so it was flush with the building and then took it to the upholstery to put a floor carpet on top to keep the dog from slipping off the ramp in winter. But once that's done, the ramp works great in its intended location. And of course, it can support the weight of a 10-pound dog going in and out through the dog door all day. I am very happy with my purchase of Launch Ramp.
